Starting in 2024, Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust have worked with local creatives Unfold Community Arts to support our young people to take action and engage creatively with the climate crisis.
Since then, the Lockleaze Youth Climate Action Group have run their own events, engaged the community through creativity and social media, and gone on exciting trips to build their skills and knowledge. The young people have led the project themselves- who knows what they might get up to next?

The Lockleaze Youth Climate Action Group is for ages 11-19.
They’re currently meeting every Tuesday during term time from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Old St James Church, Romney Avenue, BS7 9TD. Contact unfoldcommunityarts@gmail.com to register.

Treasure? The COllection
Treasure? The Collection is a fabulous mockumentary created by the Youth Climate Action Group, with support from UWE Bristol Students. We are incredibly proud of the work this group of young people achieve- they are leading the way with thought provoking productions and conversations in our community.
The project was collaboratively delivered by Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust, UWE Bristol and Watershed, in partnership with Unfold Community Arts and UWE Bristol New Wave Agency. Short Films on the Climate Crisis
Members recently worked with Ross Wilson of Wilbee films to create these short films on different aspects of the climate crisis, working on their skills of direction and stop-motion animation.

Is this Our Future?
‘Is this our future?’ was a stunning audio play written and directed by Unfold Community Arts, and performed by children and young people. The play was performed outdoors in three venues using silent disco headphones to create an immersive experience. Audience members reflected that the performance ‘packed a punch’, and ‘left them feeling so emotional’, and many made their own pledges for the planet, including to join community litterpicks, drive less and plant more wildflowers.
