Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust is the Community Hub / Anchor organisation for Lockleaze, North Bristol. Our work is community-led, which means that we co-create projects that have the respect of our community and which contribute to long term meaningful social change. LNT is well known for our warm, collaborative and connective way of working, and as a result we have many long term partners and collaborators from across Bristol and beyond.
Understandably, we do get a lot of requests for help, information and support from external organisations, and individuals who don’t live in Lockleaze.
If that’s you, perhaps you’re getting in touch with us about the following::
- Joining boards, groups or a series of meetings
- Access to community insights or engagement with specific groups
- Local consultations with our community
- Academic research
- University curriculum projects or student placements
- Consultancy around community development
- Free space
- Or something else…
As a small and dedicated team with limited resources and a high work load, dealing with requests like these takes up valuable capacity. We love fair, respectful and sustainable collaborations which recognise that communities like ours are places of unique expertise and lived experience.
With that in mind, we hope the following is useful:
- Start at the beginning: Involving our community at the beginning of your project means being able to co-design a project together.
- Understand Lockleaze: Take a look at Our Lockleaze Community Plan 2026-30, and the values that LNT hold.
- Transparency: Be clear about what you need, what your timeline is, and what outcomes you’re hoping for.
- Inclusion and Access: Lockleaze is a diverse, working class community, so thinking about inclusion in your project is key, including inclusive communication.
- Project Costs: Work out your budget for this work – our approach varies but you could consider LNT staff time, space hire, comms, overheads, translation/ BSL etc.
- End Results: How will you share outcomes / results and what’s your legacy – how do you aim to build a long-term relationship with Lockleaze’s community and LNT.
Thank you for taking the time to read this – we’re looking forward to working with you.
