Buzz Community Garden

A community garden for all, using permaculture methods to grow food, and creating space for peace, nature and learning.

Adults and children gather surrounded by hedges and trees

Buzz Community Garden has been looked after by the people of Lockleaze for nearly ten years. Situated behind the shops on Gainsborough Square, it’s open 24/7, creating a space of calm and relaxation in the centre of Lockleaze.

It’s been used as a classroom for gardening, landscaping and woodwork, and local people have grown 100s of kilos of food for the community. We always use permaculture growing methods- no dig, no peat and no pesticides.

In 2023 and 2024 LNT ran twice-weekly gardening sessions in Buzz Community Garden, free for everyone to attend. Attendees learnt to garden using a no-dig permaculture method, using techniques like companion planting. Buzz became a brilliant creative and social space, with 150+ residents contributing ideas, artwork, old materials and lots of time to create a thriving garden. This was funded by the Megawatt community fund through the Quartet Community Foundation.

We’re pleased to say Buzz Garden sessions have returned! See below for more details.
