June was extremely hot, so watering became the priority.
We were away for a two weeks of the month, so when we did get into the garden it was a case of catching up quickly and seeing what had changed without us.
The main job was simple: water everything before it gave up.
Heatwave mode
Both sessions were steady and practical. Watering, checking beds, and trying to stay ahead of plants that were either thriving or collapsing depending on the day.
The raspberries didn’t seem bothered either way they just kept producing.
Mangetout came through well, and the herbs behaved as if drought was their natural state (being to from the Mediterranean they are likely used to it)
People
I’m slowly building a small group of helpers.
Nothing formal yet, just a few people who turn up, get stuck in, and make things feel lighter. That’s already starting to change how the garden feels.
