Summer Holiday Activities!

Happy Summer Holidays! Here is a quick round-up of things to do over summer in Lockleaze for children and their grownups. We hope you have a fantastic summer.

At the Hub

  • Play Patch Community Soft Play is opening over Summer! Cafe sessions are available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with one or two exceptions. Cafe is £2.50 per person online, £3 walk-in. The soft play is for ages 0-5. During summer, older children are welcome to attend if they are well-supervised. Book here.
  • Buzz Community Garden is every Sunday, 1-3pm. Get your hands dirty and have a cuppa, all ages welcome. Just turn up!
  • Hubbub Cafe is every Wednesday, 10am – 1pm at the Hub. It’s a chatty, friendly cafe, with affordable healthy food available from Play Patch.
  • Friendly Thursday is a multi-cultural craft group for grownups every Thursday, 1pm – 3pm. During summer simple crafts will be available for children so that the whole family can attend.
  • The Summer Reading Challenge: primary school children can complete a sticker book and win a prize by keeping reading over summer. Sign up at Hub reception, and visit our book swap!
  • Wellbeing Walks every Wednesday at 10 are totally family friendly, especially on the second Wednesday of the month which is accessible to pushchairs.
  • Advice and Drop-ins: These continue over summer, check the calendar for up to date info. Bristol Family Hubs will be here on September 9th, 11am – 1pm.

Activities for under 18s:

  • HAF: Children on benefits related Free School Meals (FSM) can access a huge range of free activities through the HAF Holiday Activities and Food Programme. Bookings are through Eequ– search by age or location.
  • The Vench is every weekday 11am – 3pm in the summer holidays, open to all children (£2.50 for non-FSM). Book here, or a member of the team can help you when you arrive.
  • Trinity Summer School is for year 6s who’ll be moving up to year 7 at Trinity Academy this year! Learn more here.
  • Bristol Bombers lacrosse are running free tryout sessions across Summer- email Bristolbombers00@gmail.com to find out more.
  • Free girls cricket days at Lockleaze Sports Centre or in town with Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation.
  • Children with SEND: Incredible kids run specialist sessions at the Vench- book here. Ignite Sports run SEND-inclusive sports across Bristol including rugby at Lockleaze Sports Centre and cricket at the Rose Green Centre. Bristol Bears Foundation run inclusive multisports every week at the Hub for ages 13-17, on Mondays 1pm – 3pm.
