Hubbub

Hubbub pop-up Café is a mainstay of our community, featuring delicious affordable food and free advice drop-ins.

Hubbub Café is in the Hub hall every Wednesday between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm.

At this friendly pop-up you’ll find affordable hot drinks, snacks and fruit, all served by our brilliant volunteers. During term-time delicious light lunches are available from Boing! Soft Play, including toasties, jacket potatoes and soup. You’ll also find free advice on topics like housing, health and energy- see the rota below for details. See you soon!

“We come here because of the community feeling- everyone is so welcoming”

history of hubbub

Hubbub Café started life as a takeaway kiosk in July 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time of isolation and uncertainty, residents told us that they needed a space to get reliable information and support, as well as somewhere to socialise safely as stated in the Community Plan.

The kiosk became a café in December 2021, with the community voting on the name. It quickly became a regular gathering spot.

Hubbub couldn’t run without our brilliant volunteers- they embody our welcoming ethos and we’re so thankful for what they do.

The Hubbub has been a lifesaver for me- I come every week

more than a cafe

Hubbub is a Warm Welcome Space, meaning that anyone can come to experience a safe, welcoming and warm space, for free. By February 2023 we became a Warm Welcome Coordinator, supporting other spaces across Horfield and Lockleaze.

We also began inviting trusted partners to deliver free advice drop-ins during Hubbub Café, always shaped by what residents and café attendees said they needed. The Café has become a Lockleaze institution, and continues to be shaped by the community.

Hubbub calendar
