A collaboration with Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust, Bristol City Council and Steve England Outdoor Learning.
We are working together to promote community conversations about your heritage conservation priorities and which access improvements are needed for Stoke Park.
Thank you to the residents who joined us for the first of our Wild Wellbeing sessions on the weekend.
This was the fifth event in this exciting free programme.
This was a smaller group and different from our usual walks in that the focus was to connect; with nature and each other, to learn; foraging, fire skills and history, and to relax.
We slowed down, really taking in the sights and sounds of first the open space and then the woods. We learnt about some of the historical features in Stoke Park and more about the project discussing the importance of as many people as possible completing the survey.
We took time to look for edible foods-which we found-encouraging and helping each other.
Together we collected wood for a small fire and each learnt how to start a fire safely, using different techniques. We worked as a team and everyone joined in.
We shared some toasted snacks and then foraged to make some simple and natural festive hanging ornaments-a really mindful and engaging task.
‘So friendly and welcoming-you both know your stuff’
‘Lovely to spend time in Stoke Park as part of an all women group’
‘The history is fascinating, how do I find out more?’
‘Im regular visitor but I learnt some new things today-I really enjoyed the fire-thank you’
This was a lovely calm and really enjoyable event
