New Community Centre at Cameron Walk

The Plans

Built on the site of the old Cameron Centre, the new space is a replacement community centre built by Bristol City Council and will ensure that multiple rooms are available to our community for classes, meetings and celebrations. That space will include a new community hall and kitchen, a reception area, and two small office spaces. It’ll be run by LNT and we’ll be keeping the Hub and Hub Hall.

Next to the new community centre is an empty space that LNT have been offered as a space suitable for a new community cafe, something Lockleaze has been asking for. The new café will be open throughout the week with a healthy and affordable menu. It will be a warm and welcoming space to connect and relax throughout the seasons – like a community living room. The Our Lockleaze Community Plan 2026-31 made it clear that the Lockleaze community want more spaces for togetherness and for local amenities to be built alongside housing. We are really excited to be making this happen, and that Lockleaze will at last have more space to come together.

PS… Lots of people are asking whether a proper library will return to Lockleaze – after all we had one in the Cameron Centre.

While LNT have maintained a bare bones library service in our Hub since the previous library closed in 2024, the loss of physical books and library facilities has been frustrating for everyone. Lockleaze residents have long been asking for their library back and so LNT are working with Bristol Libraries to do just that. We’re talking about a new library being located in the cafe, with Bristol Libraries providing the books and other services, local volunteers running it. We’ll see. Watch this space.
