The timetable for the next Area Committee decision-making process for Community Infrastructure Levy and Section 106 funding in Bristol is out. This means there are opportunities to fund local infrastructure improvements such as street lighting, barriers or zebra crossings.
What is the funding for?
This funding comes from a planning charge called the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) or a planning obligation called a Section 106 agreement, paid to the council by developers to pay for improvements in the area that their development is happening, addressing the demands that it places on the area.
This means it can pay for provision and improvement of infrastructure like street lighting, barriers, murals, children’s parks and zebra crossings.
How can I get involved?
Anyone can submit a proposal. At LNT, we’re community connectors, which means along with our councillors we can help bring forward ideas from our community and submit proposals with you- it doesn’t have to be complicated. We’ll be holding community meetings in Spring where we can meet to discuss and move forward your ideas.
Stage one forms need to be submitted by March 23rd 2026. There would then be community input on which ideas to prioritise, a stage two application, and finally area committees will meet in October/November 2026 to decide which proposals will be funded.
